A picture of a Kansas City police officer sitting in a grassy field with two dogs has gone viral after being posted on social media.

The unidentified officer in the photo was captured playing with the two dogs in a field off of a ramp, and thankfully, Debbie Davis was able to take the picture after witnessing the moment herself.

“As I pull up, it’s a motorcycle cop sitting in the cold grass with two stray — or what appears to be stray dogs, just sitting there petting them,” Davis said to Fox 4 News.

The dogs reportedly escaped their owners, and the unidentified officer decided he would wait with them until the Humane Society arrived to take them in.

“It’s over and above for anyone,” Davis said. “It’s cold. Most people wouldn’t look twice at some dogs running around.”

Austin and Ashley Mozingo, the dogs’ owners, say they were relieved to have found their dogs safe after the animals escaped from their yard.

“It was heartbreaking when you see him in a cage, but then, it’s relief, when you know you can take him home with you,” Ashley said, going on to acknowledge the viral picture of the officer with her dogs. “It’s adorable. He’s just chillin’ with them.”

Austin Mozingo says he is grateful that the officer decided to go above and beyond to help the dogs stay safe.

“I think that’s an awesome story,” Austin told Fox 4 News. “It’s good to know there are still police officers out there who still enjoy helping out the community, especially in helping out such sweet dogs.”

After Davis posted the photo of the officer on Facebook, it was shared thousands of times and quickly went viral.
