A Pennsylvania man is facing manslaughter charges after using a professional wrestling move called "The Last Ride" on an 18-month-old boy that led to injuries that caused his death.

Law enforcement officials say that Brandon Hoffman, 20, had been “recklessly wrestling playing” with his girlfriend’s son, Bryson Shoemaker, when he used a move popularized by the professional wrestler The Undertaker. Though he meant to slam the boy onto the bed, he missed and the boy landed on the hardwood floor.

Hoffman was babysitting the child while his girlfriend, Sierra Shoemaker, was working.

The injuries occurred on Tuesday in the apartment Hoffman was sharing with his girlfriend and his sister as well as his sister’s boyfriend Lonnie Stewart.

“He came to me like I don’t know what happened,” Stewart said. “I dropped him. He was like real hysterical and everything.”

Hoffman attempted to perform CPR on the child before having Stewart drive them to the hospital.

“He was trying to resuscitate him,” he continued, “give him mouth-to-mouth and that’s when I was first like something is wrong.”

The child was then taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Despite the charges that he is facing, Hoffman’s friends and family are calling the child’s death a terrible accident.

According to Hoffman’s sister, she spoke to the child’s mother and she agrees that he would never have purposely hurt the child.

The WWE has released an official statement on the incident saying: “There is no excuse for a 20-year-old grown man to assault an 18-month-old child, no matter what. Using a flimsy excuse about emulating a wrestling maneuver does not absolve Brandon Hoffman of this abhorrent crime. The death of Bryson Shoemaker is a tragedy, and WWE offers its condolences to the child’s mother, Sierra Shoemaker.”
