A 21-year-old woman was abducted, beaten and raped in Martin County, Florida, by a 47-year-old man, who was allegedly angered by pictures he had seen on social media, police say.

Robert Ramsay was detained by police and faces charges of false imprisonment, sexual battery and aggravated assault.

Ramsay drove to the woman’s workplace and encouraged her to get in his vehicle, according to TCPalm. The relationship between the two has not been released, but it is reported that the victim knew Ramsay.

She drank what she thought was water from a bottle, but it turned out to be drugged.

“When she awoke she was tied up," Sheriff William Snyder said, according to WLFX. "Her hands were bound, her mouth was taped closed."

Ramsay reportedly saw the woman naked in a picture on social media and became "enraged" by them, according to Snyder.

The woman told officers that while Ramsay beat and raped her, he also held a gun to her head and threatened to kill her.

The woman was able to free her hands and grab hold of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to crash into a ditch. She then escaped from the car and flagged down a motorist.

But Ramsay continued his pursuit, coming out of the vehicle with his gun.

“Our suspect came out to Bridge Road and fired several rounds,” Snyder said.

Ramsay denied he was trying to fire at the motorist who rescued the woman.

The motorist called 911 and the woman was taken to the hospital. Deputies apprehended Ramsay at the scene of the crash.

“Had the good Samaritan not intervened, we would have likely found a body out there shot,” Snyder said.

Ramsay is being held without a bond.
