Last Friday, Australian native Chris Lane was allegedly shot in the back – and ultimately killed – by three Oklahoma teenagers who say they killed Lane because they were bored. You can read our original coverage of the story here.
Today, Stephens County, Okla., prosecutors formally charged three teens in the death of Lane. The office has not yet decided whether the teenagers will be charged as adults or juveniles. The three boys being charged are 15, 16 and 17 years old.
Two parents of the boys spoke out today and both denied that their son was the one to pull the trigger on Lane.
“They said it happened at 3 p.m.," said Jennifer Luna, the mother of the 16 year old charged today. "I get off of work at 3 and it just takes me five minutes to get to the house and he was at home." Luna says her son did get into the car that was being driven during the shooting, but not until after Lane had been gunned down.

James Edwards, father of the charged 15 year old, said his son assured him that he did not kill Lane.
"He said 'Dad I love you and I didn't have nothing [sic] to do with it.'”
Danny Ford, chief of the Duncan Police Department, reiterated yesterday his belief that Lane did not know his assassins.
“I can assure you, he had no idea who these boys were," he said. "He's a victim of opportunity, I'm sorry to say that. Somebody would have died that day, somebody mowing their yard, these boys had made up their mind. I know everybody thinks there has to be a reason, but I've been in this business for 30 years and there doesn't have to be a reason with these kids."
