Orlando Shooter Motivated By Sight Of Two Men Kissing

| by Sean Kelly

The father of the Orlando shooter said his son’s rampage that killed 50 and wounded 54 at a gay nightclub on June 12 was motivated by the sight of two men kissing and “had nothing to do with religion.”

Police and FBI officials confirmed the shooter, 29-year-old Omar Mateen, was on the FBI’s radar for some time prior to the shooting, according to Raw Story.

Mateen’s father, Mir Seddique, apologized for his son’s actions.

“We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident. We weren’t aware of any action he is taking,” the father said. “We are in shock like the whole country.”

The father said the kissing incident is what he believes sparked his son’s outrage and actions in the club.

“We were in Downtown Miami, Bayside, people were playing music...," Seddique told NBC News. "...He saw two men kissing each other in front of his wife and kid and he got very angry. They were kissing each other and touching each other and he said, 'Look at that. In front of my son they are doing that. And then we were in the men's bathroom and men were kissing each other."
