A 61-year-old Columbus, Ohio, man, accused of sexually assaulting a female student at a preschool where he worked, has been arrested, officials with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed.

WBNS News reports police at Port Columbus International Airport took F. Leon Wilson into custody Thursday and held him until Delaware County deputies could arrive.

He has since been charged with one count each of rape and gross sexual imposition, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Those charges stem from accusations made by a father whose daughter attends Prep Academy Schools, a private preschool that bills itself as “The Harvard of Preschools.”

The man reportedly contacted sheriff’s department investigators on April 9 saying that his daughter — whose age has not been released — said Wilson touched her inappropriately on April 7.

Wilson is a chess teacher and founder of the The Chess Learning Center and the KnightMare Chess Club. According to a news release from Prep Academy that was quoted by WBNS, Wilson worked as an “outside service provider” who “contracts directly with a few parents to teach their children chess in an after-school enrichment program.”

The school reportedly serves children from 6 months to 6 years of age.

According to the story from The Columbus Dispatch, police issued a warrant for Wilson’s arrest on April 9, shortly after speaking to the alleged victim’s father.

Sheriff’s department Detective Jason Campbell told The Dispatch that the arrest at the Delaware, Ohio, airport was routine and that there was no evidence Wilson was attempting to flee.

Wilson was last reported to be in custody in the Delaware County jail, held on $500,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

The statement from Prep Academy said the school works to ensure “that every single person who comes into contact with our children is safe, trustworthy and beyond reproach,” and that a “thorough background check on the accused individual found no cause for concern.”
