NYPD Officer Sent To Prison For Rape Of Teen

| by Jonathan Constante

A New York City police officer was sent to prison for raping his girlfriend's teenage daughter multiple times.

Vladimir Krull, 39, was charged and found guilty on multiple counts of rape, sexual abuse, and committing a criminal sexual act on this girlfriend's 13-year-old daughter, the Daily Mail reported. He was also convicted on a single count of endangering the welfare of a child on three occasions.

The abuse reportedly started in September of 2013, just as the victim was starting the eighth grade. The victim's mother dated Krull for two years.

During the trial, the victim described how Krull raped her twice when she was 13 years old, and forced her to perform oral sex on him in his car one day after a father/daughter breakfast at her school. The girl's father had passed away the previous year, which is why Krull was asked to accompany her to the event.

Prosecutors said Krull, who was 37 at the time, raped the victim on multiple occasions. The third incident took place in June 2014, when Krull forced the girl to perform oral sex on him in his car.

The victim's mother went to Krull's workplace and told officers at the Midtown North Precinct that Krull had raped her daughter. An investigation was launched and Krull was suspended without pay, according to the Daily Mail.

After five days of deliberation by the jury, Krull was sentenced to three years in prison for each offense, for a total of 15 years, the New York Daily News reported. He will be forced to register as a sex offender and will be monitored for a five-year period after his release.

"The defendant horrifically abused the trust of this family and engaged in sexual acts with a child," said Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, confirming that Krull was sentenced to just three years for each incident of abuse. “He now faces prison time for his depravity, and I hope his conviction reinforces the message that we do not stop until we get justice for the most vulnerable of victims.”

But Krull's attorney, Roger Blank says his client is innocent, and plans to appeal. He said there is no physical evidence, DNA or text messages linking his client to the crimes.

“The evidence was thin at best,” Blank said, according to the New York Daily News.

Blank added that the victim incorrectly testified that Krull had an apple-sized heart tattoo with a ribbon around it, but said Krull has no such tattoo.

“I think the sentence reflected both the evidence that was put forth and also my client’s (police and military) history,” Blank said. “He spent his life in public service.”
