The NYPD has finally investigated into the foul-mouthed detective who insulted an Uber driver.

Det. Patrick Cherry was put on modified assignment and transferred from his post with the Joint Terrorism Task Force, authorities reported on Wednesday. His actions are still under investigation by the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau and he faces suspension, reports CNN. In the meantime, the New York Post notes that he was also forced to turn in his gun and badge.

“We received a complaint about the incident and we are investigating,” a spokesperson for the police department said.

The incident reportedly began when Cherry tried to park his unmarked car without using a signal. The Uber driver went around Cherry and gestured for him to use the blinker.

“I don’t know where you’re coming from, where you think you’re appropriate in doing that,” Cherry said in video footage. “That’s not the way it works. How long have you been in this country?”

Just moments after angrily slamming his car door and storming away, Cherry shouts that he doesn’t know what planet the driver is from.

Cherry reportedly mocked the Uber driver’s accent and English in addition to cursing at him.

According to Rene Stracuzza, a neighbor who lives near Cherry, the detective has never acted out of term before. Stracuzza said she’s never known Cherry to be loud and that he’s always been polite. However, Stracuzza added that Cherry took it “too far” during the event.

The Uber driver has not been identified by name.
