N.J. Robber Steals Sound System, Returns Later For The Remote

| by Sarah Fruchtnicht

New Jersey police arrested a burglar who allegedly stole a sound system and other valuables from a Haddon Township home, and then returned to the crime scene half an hour later to retrieve the remote control.

Carlos Ruiz, 42, was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief over the Feb. 4 incident.

Authorities and surveillance video show Ruiz pulling up to the house in an SUV at 9 a.m. In less than 10 minutes, he leaves the home with valuables in hand.

Police say 30 minutes later, Ruiz re-entered the house and a witness reported the crime.

Police believe Ruiz randomly targeted the home in order to get money to feed a heroin addiction.

Authorities found Ruiz is a fugitive in a Pennsylvania fraud case and is also wanted in Camden County for failure to pay child support.

He is currently being held at Camden County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail.
