Newborn Baby Girl Found Alive In Kentucky Dumpster

| by Emily Smith

A newborn baby girl was found alive in a Kentucky dumpster on Friday.

A teenager has since been charged with attempted murder in connection to the baby.

The infant is in stable condition at a hospital, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, after a man discovered the baby girl in the dumpster.

“What alerted him was he heard a loud noise outside,” Sgt. Darrin Frommeyer said. “The man said he went outside, saw a young man walking away from the dumpster, walked over to it and heard a baby crying.”

When the man opened the dumpster, he discovered the infant and called police. Frommeyer added that the man had saved the child’s life by alerting authorities.

The teenager arrested in connection to the child was charged with attempted murder, first-degree criminal abuse and tampering with physical evidence. The teenager is the boyfriend of the baby’s 15-year-old mother.

“That pretty much determined that she had had a baby recently,” Frommeyer said. “We found out who her boyfriend was and questioned him. Eventually he confessed to what happened.”

Officials reported that it’s unclear if the girl’s boyfriend is the infant’s father.

The teen girl lives with her mother and sister in an apartment near the dumpster the infant was placed in. According to authorities, her family was unaware that she was pregnant.

The 17-year-old boy is expected to appear in juvenile court on Monday.
