A father encountered every parent's worst nightmare after walking into his home in Hardin County, Texas, and seeing his daughter stabbed to death.

Wendi Wanell Warner, a 44-year-old mother of two and grandmother, was found dead on the morning of Jan. 10 after her former boyfriend, 40-year-old Joseph Anthony Latulas, allegedly stabbed her to death, police said.

The father’s identity has not been disclosed, and it’s unclear how old Warner’s children are, but there are no other reported victims, 12 News Now reports.

Dorothy Underwood, Warner's aunt, described her as "very sweet" and "very funny."

"She had a good job," she told 12 News Now. "She was doing really well."

Underwood said her brother, Warner’s father, was being supported by his family members at this difficult time.

"I told my brother when I was holding him that I'm sorry he has to go through this,” she said. “I'm sorry he had to find her the way he found her.”

Latulas, 40, is being held on a $1 million bond for murder charges, according to Beaumont Enterprise.
