A woman accused of locking her 4-year-old son in a wire dog cage has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Suzanne Satterfield was sentenced on counts of child abuse by injury and child neglect, reports NewsOn6.
The sentencing comes one month after her common-law husband, Johnathan Wade Lee, was found guilty on charges of child abuse by injury and child sexual abuse. Lee was sentenced to 54 years in prison.
Lee was the stepfather of Satterfield’s then 4-year-old son, and according to an affidavit for warrant, Lee placed the child in the dog cage during nap time, night time, and for disciplinary reasons, reports Claremore Progress.

It is believed the child could have spent more than 14 hours a day in the cage. The treatment went on for about two to three weeks, according to Rogers County Investigators.
“It's really shocking to have a child put in a dog cage the length of time he was in a dog cage for, and that's what people get shocked about,” District Attorney Reagan Reininger said.

Lee admitted to using the dog cage as a disciplinary measure. He added that when the boy learned how to get out of the cage, he used wire ties on the cage and would lock it with handcuffs. There was also a pad lock installed on the child’s bedroom door to keep him in his room.
Lee was also found guilty of sexually abusing Satterfield’s 14-year-old daughter.
Satterfield allegedly watched her children be abused but did nothing about it because she was “too pregnant and too tired to deal with it.”
