Mother Charged With Battery After Daughter Flushes Pot Down The Toilet

| by Jordan Smith

A 46-year-old Florida woman faces a potential lengthy prison sentence after being charged with battering her 18-year-old daughter.

Kyle Mullane, 46, is accused of hitting Ashley Mullane when the teenager flushed her mother’s stash of pot down the toilet, according to the Smoking Gun.

The police report stated that when Mullane saw Ashley disposing of the drugs, she got in her face and “began to yell at her and call her names.” Ashley told her to back off and threatened to call the police, when “her mother slapped her in the face,” according to The Smoking Gun.

Mullane denied the battery allegation during police questioning, but did accept her daughter had disposed of her pot. According to the police report, she said that the loss of the drugs was “no big deal because she would just go out and get more.”

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

Daily Mail reported that the 18-year-old found the pot in the kitchen when she went to get a drink.

Since Mullane has a prior domestic battery conviction, police have charged her with a felony this time. Under Florida law, the charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years behind bars, Daily Mail noted.

Mullane has previous charges including theft and trespassing. After appearing in court, she has been released on her own recognizance, The Smoking Gun stated.
