Mother Arrested After Two Children Found Living In Crates In Underground Caves

| by Sean Kelly

A mother in Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested on Saturday after her two children were found barefoot and living in a wooden shipping crate in an underground cave.

According to reports, detectives in Jackson County discovered the 4- and 6-year-old children on Thursday living inside an 8-by-10-foot crate that included bench seats, two small blankets, trash, and thin wires. The crate was surrounded by car parts.

Upon the discovery, the 4-year-old child was using hands to eat a dry, dirty cup of ramen noodles. When asked why they weren’t wearing shoes, the children told police that they didn’t have any.

The older child told authorities that he should be in first grade but doesn't go to school.
