Moura El-Esmar and her 16-year-old daughter Jacinta were allegedly caught with almost $60,000 in their bras when they tried to cross from Canada to the U.S. on Sunday.

The mother and daughter were reportedly being driven through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel by a fellow Canadian who El-Esmar claimed was her boyfriend.

According to court papers, El-Esmar told U.S. border agents that she and her daughter were going to the Detroit airport where they were scheduled to fly to Lebanon to visit relatives for three months.

El-Asmar’s purse was found to contain $15,000 in Canadian money and $300 in U.S. dollars, which she had not declared, noted TheSmokingGun.com.

That's when U.S. border agents patted her down and found the money sewn into her bra.  El-Asmar admitted to sewing money into her daughter's bra, which was also searched.

El-Asmar said that she “concealed the money for safety” from her boyfriend.

El-Asmar was charged with bulk cash smuggling, making false statements and failing to declare the cash. Her daughter was not arrested.
