A mother from Sacramento, California, is accused of lighting her 7-year-old daughter on fire over the weekend.

Porche Wright, 27, has been charged with felony child abuse and attempted murder.

“She put gas on her and put a match on her,” neighbor Mike Davis told KTXL.

A press release from the Sacramento Police Department confirms that “the child's injuries are consistent with a flammable liquid that was placed on the victim and set on fire.”

On April 4, police were called to Wright’s home after they received a report of child abuse from one of Wright’s friends.

Police discovered the girl had been seriously burned, and paramedics rushed her to the hospital.

Though her injuries are severe, she is expected to survive.

“She was burned so bad, face and everything, it was really really severe,” said neighbor Frank Taylor. “People are saying that she wasn’t really a good mom, that she was really always on her verbally abusing them.”

Wright has a history of run-ins with the law. Since 2007, she’s been charged with prostitution, domestic violence and disorderly conduct.
