Heather Hironimus reportedly checked herself and her 4-year-old son, Chase, into a domestic violence shelter to avoid a judge's court order that the boy be circumcised.

Hironimus was supposed to surrender her son to a judge in Delray Beach, Florida, on March 10, but did not show up, noted WPBF (video below).

"The child is scared to death of the procedure and doesn't want it," Hironimus' attorney Thomas Hunker said, reported the Sun Sentinel. "There have been no safeguards put in place to protect the child's psychological and emotional condition with regards to this surgery."

"She doesn't believe she should be incarcerated for protecting her child," Hunker added.

Because of a privacy law, Hunker didn't have to tell the judge or police where the shelter is.

Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Jeffrey Dana Gillen issued a warrant for Hironimus' arrest.

Chase's father, Dennis Nebus, won a court battle against Hironimus to have his son circumcised.

Nebus claims his son has phimosis, which is when the foreskin cannot be fully pulled back, but Hironimus insisted that diagnosis had not been made.
