A Mississippi man has been arrested and faces two charges of second degree murder after he allegedly killed his father and injured his mother with a knife.

Ronald Pritchett, 32, was reportedly visiting his parents in Gretna, Louisiana, when a disagreement erupted over food, media reports say.

Pritchett got a knife and went to his parents’ bedroom to confront them, according to witnesses at the home.

Finding the door locked, he kicked it down and stabbed his father, Percival Pritchett, 58, multiple times. His mother, Renta Pritchett, 57, was also attacked and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were called to the residence and found Renta on a first floor landing with stab wounds to the head. Percival was located in a bedroom but succumbed to his injuries after being taken to hospital.

Ronald Pritchett escaped the scene in his father’s car.

Police later tracked him down at his home near Purvis, Mississippi, where he was arrested.

The arrest was made by deputies from Lamar County, Mississippi, who were forced to send a dog into the home.

“He refused to come out, we sent in a k-9 and he was taken into custody,” Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel told WWL.

Pritchett suffered minor injuries during the arrest.

He is expected to be deported to Louisiana on Nov. 30 to face charges. On top of the two murder charges, he will face a count of attempted second degree murder, and one of auto theft.
