Missing Pregnant Woman Had Alleged Affair with Married Marine, Investigation Finds
As the search for 19 year-old Erin Corwin continues, some new developments are arising that change the landscape of the investigation altogether.
It turns out that the pregnant teenager, who went missing early in the morning on the 28th of June, had been having an affair with United States Marine Christopher Lee. Shortly after the disappearance of Corwin, Lee moved to Alaska. This is according to The Huffington Post.
Lee, who is also married, admitted to authorities that he had kissed Erin Corwin, though he denied that he had ever had sex with her. He also claimed he was not with her on the 28th of June.
Corwin's husband, who is also a United States Marine, reported his young wife missing on June 29.
Court documents reveal that Lee's wife is at the very least aware of the affair between her husband and Eric Corwin, though an ominous quote implies a greater familiarity between Lee's wife and the pregnant Corwin than was originally suspected.
According to these documents, Lee's wife Nicole made some harrowing statements to her friend Isabella. An affidavit states, “Nicole told Isabella that without a body the detectives did not have a case against them and the detectives would never find the body.” Nicole Lee also "berated [Christopher] in front of Isabella about not being able to keep his lies straight when he was interviewed by detectives because he was dumb.” This was reported by local news outlet KTLA.
Christopher Lee has been arrested on the charge of "possession of a destructive device", which is a felony. This device, according to authorities, is a potato gun. It is believed to have nothing to do with the disappearance or possible death of Erin Corwin.
"Although suspicious circumstances have existed from the inception of this investigation there is still not enough evidence to rule out that Erin Corwin could be voluntarily missing," officials say.
We will keep you posted as new developments arise in the case.
