Two unidentified 13-year-old boys have been arrested for trying to poison their teacher by spiking her daily cup of tea with hand sanitizer for three months (video below).

The students from Hines Middle School in Newport News, Virginia, were caught when a school police officer received a tip and questioned the boys, who admitted their crime, reports the Daily Mail.

The teacher has missed work several times to see a doctor about stomach problems, but never realized that her students were trying to poison her.

According to WAVY-TV, school officials learned that the boys had been allegedly contaminating their teacher's drinks way back on January 29.

The school police officer immediately told the teacher, who sought medical help, but did not have to be hospitalized.

School administrators contacted police, who called in their special victims unit to investigate. The two teens were arrested on March 6 and each charged with a felony of attempted poisoning.

School administrators believe the students can still be educated and said that they will be closely supervised at the district's alternative school for troubled teens.
