A Miami Heat fan who was caught on camera giving the middle finger to Chicago Bulls forward Joakim Noah after he was ejected from Wednesday night’s playoff game has been identified. The woman is named Filomena Tobias, and she has quite a backstory.
Filomena is the widow of Seth Tobias, an American hedge fund manager and frequent CNBC guest commentator. Seth drowned in his pool in 2007, and there was rampant speculation that Filomena had a hand in his death.
An investigation into the incident concluded that there was no foul play and also revealed that Tobias had ingested alcohol, cocaine and Ambien before he drowned, Business Insider reported.
Filomena’s daughter, Victoria Racanati, talked about how her mother was dealing with all of the attention she is now receiving. “She’s embarrassed, but she is being a good sport,” Racanati said. “She was having fun just like any other fan. All she has to say is that people need to get a life.”
Seth’s brothers – Samuel, Spence, Scott and Joshua – engaged Filomena in a civil court battle in at attempt to prevent her from collecting her late husband’s $25 million fortune. A settlement between Filomena and the brothers was reached.
