Miami man Derek Medina turned himself in to the police on Thursday after shooting his wife to death during a domestic dispute, and later posting a picture of his wife’s body to Facebook.
The couple had been married since April 2012.
"I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife,” Medina wrote on his Facebook page. “You will see me in the news."
In his defense, Medina wrote that his wife had been punching him and he decided not to deal with the abuse any longer. He posted his confession, along with a picture of his wife’s bloody body bent back on her knees, at 11:30 on Thursday morning.
The caption of the photo read: “R.I.P. Jennifer Alfonso.”
Before Medina’s Facebook page was removed by the website, a strange array of careers could be found on his “About” page. The 31-year-old listed himself as an actor in Burn Notice, though he only played an extra in one episode. Medina also has a number of unusually titled, self-published books including one e-book of self advice.
According to reports, a 10-year-old girl was in the house when Medina shot his wife but was not injured.
Police later found the woman’s body in Medina’s townhouse.
