An Indianapolis man who was shot by the homeowner of the house he was trying to burglarize has died.

The incident took place at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Friday. Deandre Twyman, 22, and an accomplice kicked in the front door of a home in the 2500 block of Devon Court.

According to WTHR, the homeowner and his fiancée were inside the home at the time of the attempted burglary and that’s when shots were fired.

Both men ran away as soon as they heard the gunfire — but not before Twyman was shot in the stomach. Police were called to Community East Hospital where Twyman later died.

Authorities said they know who the second suspect is, but no name has been released.

The homeowner and his fiancée were not hurt during the incident.

There is still no word if the homeowner will be charged with any crime, and police said he has been cooperating with detectives.
