Severed Head In Trashcan Leads To Man's Arrest

| by Emily Smith

Memphis man Michael Wilson Jr. was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse on Monday, after a trash bag he was carrying ripped and exposed a severed head.

Wilson was in the backyard of his home with Lacedric Ruffin, who hoped to collect junk from the house, when a trash bag Wilson was carrying suddenly tore. As the bag split and the remnants of a severed head were exposed, Wilson begged Ruffin not to tell anyone.

“I didn’t mean to kill him,” Wilson allegedly said.

Ruffin immediately called police, who found the head as well as a decomposing body inside of Wilson’s bedroom on Saturday night. Tools that were used to dismember the body were also discovered inside the house.

“If that bag hadn’t busted, I would have had that head going to the junk yard,” Wilson said.

Police have not yet identified the body, though they believe it’s a man who recently moved into Wilson’s home.

Wilson’s neighbors have suggested that he is schizophrenic and hasn’t taken his medication for months.

Currently, Wilson is being held on a $2 million bond.
