Mass. Cop Shoots Fellow Cop, Kills Self; Love Triangle?

| by Mark Berman Opposing Views

Prosecutors in Massachusetts are investigating whether a love triangle led one police officer to shoot another cop, and then kill himself.

The Daily Mail reports that Sgt. Kenneth Nagy, who works in the Hamilton Police Department, shot Officer Jason Lantych of the neighboring Beverly Police Department outside of a busy Starbucks on Friday. Lantych is recovering from wounds to his leg and wrist.

The 43-year-old Nagy returned to the scene a few hours later and committed suicide with a bullet to his head.

District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said he is investigating a possible relationship between Lantych and the shooter's wife. Katie Nagy works with Lantych at the Beverly Police Department's domestic violence unit as a victim's advocate.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

Blodgett said Lantych and Mrs. Nagy have been friends for years, and that the men also knew each other.

"We're looking at every single aspect,' Blodgett told The Daily News of Newbury Port. 'We're looking at everything, and nothing's being discounted."

Nagy left a suicide note, but its contents have not been revealed.
