A former Washington County, Oregon, jail staffer, who is married, was sentenced Monday to more than four years in prison for having sex with a convicted rapist numerous times in a prison closet.

Jill Curry, 39, tearfully claimed 25-year-old gang member Jang-Li Delgado Galban, who is housed in a maximum-security unit, seduced her -- a defense that Judge Charles Bailey called "stupid and ludicrous," reports the Daily Mail.

Curry is reportedly married to a sheriff's deputy, but pleaded guilty last month to custodial sexual misconduct and other charges. The civilian jail services technician unlocked Delgado Galban's cell 13 times while a deputy was at lunch and met him in a supply closet, where they had sex.

Someone reported Curry on July 8, 2014, and an investigation was launched into the jail staffer's actions. She was immediately placed on administrative leave. When she was arrested, Curry -- who had been employed by the sheriff's office since 2004 -- was held on $120,000 bond.

Judge Bailey went above the state's recommendation of a sentence of less than two years and sentenced Curry to four years and two months in prison.

As a result of this scandal, the Washington County Jail has added surveillance cameras and additional security measures to prevent this from happening again.

Delgado-Galban was reportedly arrested in 2009, when he was 20, for breaking into a woman's apartment and raping her. He agreed to a plea deal and was charged with one count of burglary with intent to commit rape in exchange for dropping the rape charge. In 2010, he was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison and was ordered to register as a sex offender when he was released. Delgado-Galban failed to meet the conditions of his plea agreement and ended up back in Washington County Jail, where he met Curry.
