Robert Fredrickson was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly tried to steal part of a young girl's birthday cake in front of deputies in the Cowlitz County Hall of Justice in Kelso, Wash.

Apparently, the girl's mother left her daughter's Disney princess-themed birthday cake on a table inside the entrance of the courthouse while she went to court.

Later, Fredrickson entered the courthouse, saw the cake and grabbed a handful to eat. He was confronted by Deputy Joe Connor as he washed his hands at a nearby water fountain, which was captured on surveillance video (below).

"I said 'stand right there, don't move.' I went to get some towels to clean him up before I dealt with him and no sooner had I turned my back on him and he was back on the cake again. And then all hell broke loose," Deputy Connor told KATU.

Deputy Connor wrestled with Fredrickson, who crashed into the table and destroyed the cake.

Fredrickson was charged with third-degree theft and resisting arrest.

According to KOIN, Washington State law says, “a person is guilty of theft in the third degree if he or she commits theft of property or services which does not exceed seven hundred fifty dollars in value.”

The story has a happy ending as a local grocery store is going to replace the little girl's cake.
