Man Posts Pic on Facebook Stealing Gas from Cop Car

A Kentucky man wins the “Moron of the Day” award – for posting a picture of himself on Facebook stealing gas from a police car, of all vehicles. Of course he was arrested.

The Daily Mail reports that 20-year-old Michael Baker told WYMT-TV that on March 1 he and his girlfriend were bored, and they decided it would be a good idea to “prank” police.

So he got a gas container and a hose, squatted down next to a police car, opened the gas cap and stuck the hose in. Oh, and he displayed his middle finger.

“We was just standing there and thought it would be funny to take a picture and then post it on Facebook,” said Baker.

Well, they did post it to Facebook, and eventually police in Jenkins County saw it and arrested Baker, charging him with “theft by unlawful taking.” After spending a night in jail, Baker was back on Facebook, posting:

lol i went too [sic] jail over facebook. it was funny as hell tho.

The couple insists it was just a prank, though.

“Yeah, we're sorry, but it was just a joke. I mean if we was going to steal gas, we wouldn't put it nationwide on Facebook,” the girlfriend, Joan Sandlin, said.

But Baker admits he did steal some gas.

“I got a little bit of gas, he said. “I tried but there wasn't much in it.”
