Man Hides Gun In Child Seat, With Child In It, Gets 8 Years in Prison

Vincent Williams was pulled over on Dec. 9, 2010 in Fayetteville, N.C. for running a red light.

During the traffic stop, police found a controlled substance in the car along with Williams' five-year old son, who was crying.

According to, the boy told police officers, "My daddy only gave me this gun."

When police removed the boy from his car seat, they found he had been sitting on a loaded .22-caliber handgun with the safety off.

Police say the gun had a round in the chamber and eight more rounds in the magazine, notes

Williams was wearing an empty gun holster at the time of his arrest and told police officers that he didn't own a gun because he was a felon.

According to North Carolina state records, Williams had previously been convicted of robbery, assault, possession of stolen goods and drugs.

Today, Williams was found guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and sentenced to eight years, nine months in federal prison.
