| by Emily Smith

A Georgian man was caught by Turkish police on Monday after he attempted to sneak a woman across the border in a suitcase.

The 25-year-old man was carrying a black suitcase after entering the country via the Sarp Border Crossing between Georgia and Turkey. Police apparently found the man’s behavior suspicious and asked him to open his suitcase. Inside, they found a 22-year-old Georgian national curled up.

The suitcase was so small that the woman barely fit inside and was forced to curl herself into fetal position.

The pair was detained by police before being deported by Turkish officials.

The woman was reportedly trying to smuggle herself into Turkey after being banned from the country for an unspecified offence.

It’s not immediately clear why customs officials were attracted to the Georgian man.
