A Houston man accused of setting an attorney and his son ablaze at their Museum District home was arrested on Jan. 19.

Curtis Holliman, 32, was taken into police custody and charged in the murder of Dexter Taylor, 46.

Firefighters pulled two severely burned men from their home on Jan. 18. Neighbors said one of the men, attorney Kirby J. Taylor, 67, first ran out of his house into the front yard screaming for help. But when firefighters came to the scene, both he and his adult son were inside.

"Discovered two victims on the first floor. They were removed and transported to the hospital," said John Douglas with the Houston Fire Department.

The son, Dexter, later died at the hospital, according to law enforcement. His father remains in hospital.

Taylor was a well-respected attorney. reports KHOU.

“I can’t imagine anyone would want to hurt Kirby Taylor," said Carlton Jordan, a friend. "I just hope he's OK."

An accelerant-sniffing picked up on hints of fuel on a chair from the home on Jan. 18. Investigators later discovered that during an argument with the victims, Holliman reportedly threw gasoline on them and then lit them on fire, reports KHOU.
