Law enforcement officials arrested a California man for sexual assault on a minor after he allegedly met up with a 14-year-old girl through a phone app.
Christopher Campbell, 30, of Valley Springs, California, is charged with three felony counts of sexual assault with a minor, according to FOX News.
“Christopher Campbell was inside the bedroom partially clothed and the bedroom belonged to a 14-year-old who had been in the room a few minutes earlier,” said Oakdale Police Chief Lester Jenkins.
The victim’s grandmother initially reported the incident to police in the early morning hours of Friday, saying that a person was locked in the girl’s bedroom, FOX News reported.

When officials arrived on the scene, they reportedly found Campbell in the young girl’s room.
Police later discovered that the two had allegedly been meeting up for months and engaging in a sexual relationship without the family’s knowledge.
"There was some sexual conduct so that’s why he was arrested for three different felonies,” said Jenkins. “We had statements that confirmed it’s been going on for several months,”
According to police, the two met through an app called Badoo. The app connects hundreds of people in the immediate area who want to meet each other.
Despite the fact that the app is for people ages 17 and up, children are able to register if they enter a birthday that shows that they are older than 18.
“They’re often very naive and the sexual predators know that, and they will try to draw them into conversation with things that interest young girls and they don’t really realize what’s going on and sometimes it’s too late,” Jenkins said.
He continued, “We urge parents to keep a close eye on what’s going on with their kids.”
According to VictimsOfCrime.org, one in five girls and one in 20 boys will be victims of sexual abuse with the most vulnerable children being between the ages of 7 and 13.
