Man Arrested After Family Member Discovers Child Pornography On His Computer

| by Dominic Kelly

A 23-year-old Virginia man was arrested after someone in his family reportedly found child pornography on a home computer. Disturbingly, that discovery was just the beginning.

WTVR reports that Darnell Williams of Hanover, Virginia, was arrested and is now facing charges of taking indecent liberties with a child and possession of child pornography. After the porn was discovered on the computer, it was also revealed that Williams had solicited someone under the age of 15 for sex.

“Pornography and children is really — is really, really bad,” neighbor Ruby Taylor said.

If he’s found guilty, Williams could face up to five years in prison and will most likely have to register as a sex offender. He is set to appear in court in late July.

The charges mean Williams is not eligible for bail.

The number of child pornography crimes in the U.S. has increased more than 5,000 percent since 2007, reports Thorn, an organization that works to prevent human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children.
