Police are reportedly searching for a man in Middlesex County, Virginia, who they say attacked the mother of his two children outside of a daycare center in Wake.

William Edward Nelson Jr., 30, is wanted for beating up his 25-year-old estranged wife, Andrea Nelson, while she was walking home from the daycare on March 5 with their two children, ages three and six, reports CBS 6

"Willie came from behind a parked vehicle. He told me to get in the car now. He told me not to scream. He said if I scream he would kill me and the kids," Andrea Nelson told CBS 6. "He grabbed my keys and forced me into my car. When he started the car, I started screaming and got out of the car. That's when he threw me down and hit me in the face."

Andrea said she was carrying mace and used it against her husband, who then reportedly threw her down again and hit her in the face one last time. She and her children were all screaming and that the husband of the daycare provider came outside, according to CBS 6. That was when William ran off into the woods, Andrea recounted.

The victim required 14 stitches in her face.

The suspect was reportedly arrested last year for assaulting his wife and was also charged with assault and battery for assaulting a family member. He was sentenced to nine months in prison and was released in August. His past offenses also include violating a protective order.

The couple married in 2010 and Andrea said she hadn't seen her husband for three weeks prior to the assault. She said she was too afraid to file for divorce.

Investigators have asked anyone who sees William to contact the Middlesex Sheriff's Office Hotline at 804-758-5600.
