Lawsuit Claims Nurse Had ‘Unsolicited’ Sex With Heart Surgery Patient

| by Khier Casino

As a man was waiting for a heart transplant at a Chicago hospital, a nurse came into his room and “initiated unsolicited sexual relations, including intercourse,” according to a lawsuit filed Monday.

Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn is being sued by the patient and his wife, who claim the hospital was negligent in employing the nurse who “had a propensity to initiate unauthorized physical contact with patients,” the suit stated. The nurse, who was also named as a defendant, is accused of battery, NBC Chicago reports.

The alleged battery took place on Oct. 12, 2012, while the man was a patient in the cardiac care unit. They are seeking $150,000 in damages.

In January, the nurse was reprimanded by the Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Regulation for failing “to report having been terminated from a facility for crossing professional boundaries with a patient,” according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

It’s unclear where she is currently employed, but her license remains active in Illinois.
