A Kentucky woman who murdered her boyfriend has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Shayna Hubers took her on-and-off again boyfriend Ryan Poston's life in October 2012.

Hubers, 24, was sentenced to 40 years in prison by Campbell County Circuit Judge Fred A. Stine after a day-long hearing saw testimony from her friends, medical experts, and a pastor.

Hubers reportedly boasted to police about killing Poston in an interrogation soon after his death in 2012.

“I never heard a word or saw a look that said, ‘I’m sorry,’” the judge told Hubers at the hearing Friday.

Stine also called the murder "as cold-blooded an act as I've seen" in his more than three-decade long career in the legal system.

In April, a jury found Hubers guilty of murder.

The night of Poston's murder, he was supposed to meet Miss Ohio USA 2012, Audrey Bolte, for drinks. According to his family, he revealed to them that he planned to break up with Hubers for good shortly before his death.

That night, Hubers shot Poston, a 29-year-old attorney, six times in his apartment while he sat at his dining room table.

Campbell Commonwealth attorney Michelle Snodgrass told the judge that Hubers sat and watched Poston "as he twitched." She added that rather than calling for help for Poston, she fired at him again.

"She is not the person that she wants everyone to believe she is," said Snodgrass to the judge.

Psychologist Ed Connor said that Hubers consistently showed signs of a narcissistic personality and an "extreme difficulty with rejection."

According to testimony, Poston sent a friend a text after their third breakup in April 2012 saying, "This is getting to be restraining-order-level crazy."

Poston also complained in the text that he had received 75 text messages from her in the last hour and that she showed up at his apartment that night.

According to Hubers, the couple reconciled in the summer of 2012. Text messages show that they were together at times and she brought him food to his apartment several times.

Snodgrass said that text messages to Hubers' friends indicated that she was seeing other men in the months leading up to the killing.

Days before the killing, she told a friend, "I'm in love with Patrick."

A month earlier, she revealed to a friend that she had a sexually transmitted disease, saying, "Who knows who I got it from, right?"
