Josh Powell had Pornography Depicting Cartoon Rape, Incest

| by

The Olympia, Washington, father who murdered his two boys with a hatchet, then burned down his house in an explosive inferno was apparently keeping a stash of illicit and disturbing pornography.

Recently, it has come to light that Utah authorities investigating the 2009 disappearance of Josh Powell's wife knew about a stash of over 400 pornographic images that Powell kept on his computer. The details of the pictures are too graphic to describe here, but many depicted scenes of rape, cartoon fornication and incest.

The psychologist in Washington State, who previously signed off on Powell's parental visitation rights, redacted her assessment after reviewing the images.

According to her official findings, the images were of "great concern" and suggested a more penetrating psychological evaluation of Josh Powell was needed before granting him access to his children.

That evaluation was never to be. Just six days after Powell's psychologist went on record with her redaction, Powell killed himself after murdering his two young sons.

Many of the images recovered from Powell's computer depicted popular cartoon characters in sexual situations and provocative poses. The cartoons that turned up in Powell's collection included Rugrats, Dennis the Menace and SpongeBob SquarePants, according to the Washington Post.

Washington officials first got wind of these photos' existence last November, nearly two years after the Utah authorities discovered them. Utah investigators did not issue a comment explaining the reason they sat on this information for so long.

The murder of Powell's wife, Susan, remains unsolved.
