'Jon and Kate Plus 8' Video Editor Arrested for Child Porn

| by Michael Allen

William Blankinship, a former video editor on TLC's 'Jon and Kate Plus 8,' was arrested and charged with 10 counts of "sex exploit" of a minor. The 56-year-old was taken into custody on Oct. 21 in North Carolina.

The sex exploit charge means that he had in his possession photos and/or videos of a minor engaged in a sexual act, according to RadarOnline.com.

Blankinship was arrested as part of a sting, 'Operation Spyglass.'  24 men were handed felony charges for "possession and distribution of child pornography and/or sexual acts with a minor."

In addition to 'Jon and Kate Plus 8,' Blankinship worked on 'Kate Plus 8,' 'Table for 12,' and '17 Kids and Counting.' The video editor was a subcontractor for Serious Robots and Figure 8 Films, which fired him after his arrest.

"Bill Blankinship was employed by Serious Robots, with whom Figure 8 Films subcontract for editing services," Figure 8 said in a statement. "Upon learning of the shocking allegations, his employment was terminated. At no time was this man ever in the field or in direct contact with any of the talent for any of our productions."
