A 3-year-old boy, Jadarrius Speights, died in Tampa Bay, Florida, on Tuesday after he allegedly shot himself with his uncle Jeffrey Walker's 9mm handgun (video below).
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office, Speights found the handgun in a backpack owned by Walker (pictured).
The two shared a bedroom and the handgun was unsecured, reported Bay News 9.
Speights was taken to Florida Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
Walker was charged with culpable negligence for exposing a minor to a firearm, a third degree felony.
According to WTSP-TV, Walker had a concealed carry permit and purchased the handgun from a Tampa Bay gun shop.
Speights' parents were in the apartment at the time of the shooting.
