Leonardo Decouite was charged with allegedly torturing is 3-year-old son by burning him, whipping him, shooting him with a BB gun and forcing him to kneel on Legos until he bled. The 23-year-old was arrested on March 6 in Brooklyn, New York, New York Daily News reported.

The boy, who has not been named, was severely malnourished and had sustained “multiple injuries from his father, police told WPIX.

Decouite is accused of hitting his son with a belt across his face and back as well as whipping him with a cord on his stomach and back. He also allegedly forced his son to put his feet under hot water until they burned and put out cigarettes on his legs and stomach. The victim was also allegedly shot by a BB gun three times in his foot.

Although the boy was taken to a hospital in stable condition, he has suffered second-degree burns and permanent scarring from the abuse -- the boy also has limited use of his hand.

Decouite faces several counts of felony assault. The boy’s mother, 20-year-old Kiana Mohansingh, has also been charged with assault and police claim she never sought medical attention for her son.

The boy’s 52-year-old grandmother ultimately called the police. A 6-year-old girl was also inside the home, but she was uninjured and it’s currently unclear who has custody of her.

Decouite has a long history of run-ins with the law -- he’s been arrested 14 times. In November, he was arrested for dealing marijuana but he was granted an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal, meaning the charges would be dropped if he didn’t have any other trouble with the law for 12 months.
