Report: Ismaaiyl Brinsley Identified As Man Suspected Of Killing 2 NYPD Officers

Police have reportedly identified the man suspected of killing two New York City Police Department officers on Saturday afternoon. 

According to both the Daily Mail and the New York Daily News, 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Brinsley has been identified by police as the man who orchestrated an execution-style ambush on two NYPD officers who were sitting in a marked patrol car in Brooklyn.

The gunman approached the vehicle from behind and opened fire, before fleeing to a nearby subway station. Officials later found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Daily Mail reports that Brinsley also allegedly shot his girlfriend early Saturday morning.

Both the Daily Mail and New York Post have reported that today’s shooting was ‘revenge’ for the death of Eric Garner at the hands of NYPD officers.
