Indiana Town Marshal Allegedly Stole Something Very Personal From Son’s Girlfriend

An Indiana town marshal was arrested for stealing used panties from his son’s girlfriend, police said.

David Keith Hathaway, 59, was charged with two counts of conversion, which is the unauthorized use of someone else’s personal property, after his future daughter-in-law kept finding her panties in unusual places.

The crime allegedly happened while Hathaway’s son and his girlfriend were living in the Millersburg marshal’s home.

The unidentified victim says she found her underwear and several other pairs of women’s panties in a sack hidden inside Hathaway’s safe.

When his son and the woman confronted Hathaway he allegedly said it was a joke.

But the strange behavior continued. She found another pair of her panties wet and crumpled on the floor of her room and asks a detective to set up a hidden camera.

She allegedly obtained footage of her future father-in-law picking up her underwear "then inhale deeply." He then allegedly dropped on pair on the floor, and grabbed another pair to take with him.

A detective reportedly told Fox 28 that Hathaway admitted "that he does have a problem, namely a panty fetish, for which he is seeking 'help.'"

He faces up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine.

He is expected to appear in court on Aug. 15.
