After he was found running naked in the street, authorities attempted to subdue a northwest Indiana man with a stun gun, which resulted in disastrous consequences. Mark Koves, 28, died at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights at 5:44 p.m. on Sunday.

Thornton police officers responded to a Sunday afternoon call about a naked man in the street near the Hubbard Park pavilion and Wolcott School. When they approached him, officers said Koves “became very erratic and combative.”

It was at that point that officers were forced to “subdue” him, according to a statement released by police, CBS Local reported.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said the man died as a result of police shocking him with a stun gun. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
