An Indian national living in Baton Rouge, La., was taken into custody by the FBI on Sunday for allegedly groping a sleeping passenger on a cross-country flight.

Devender Singh, 61, is accused of having his hand up a sleeping woman’s shirt while touching himself on a United Airlines flight from Houston to Newark, N.J.

The woman woke to a stranger kissing her face. She pushed Singh off of her and walked to the back of the aircraft to report the assault. She requested that police be at the terminal when the plane landed.

FBI agents took Singh into custody at Newark Liberty International Airport and charged him with abusive sexual contact.

He appeared in U.S. District Court Monday, where a judge ordered him detained.

Singh faces two years in prison if convicted.
