Woman Who Let 2 Year Old Fall to His Death Now Sues Staples Center

| by

A Los Angeles woman who tragically lost her young son in a fatal fall at the Staples Center is now suing the arena where the accident occurred.

Two-year-old Lucas Tang fell off a ledge on the top tier of the Los Angeles Lakers’ home arena in downtown LA, after his mother left him propped, unattended to take his photo. The toddler plunged 50 feet off the ledge, down three levels of the stadium to the ground.

Despite being on record admitting her culpability in the death of her child, Nguyen has filed a lawsuit against the Staples Center managers alleging liability for wrongful death and negligence.

Nguyen testified in the presence of defense attorneys representing the stadium that she was the one who left Lucas on the ledge to take his photo at the game, according to the Daily Mail. Even though the ledge was protected by a glass safety barrier, Lucas managed to plummet past the guard and landed on the concrete below.

Witnesses said that the boy was still alive and twitching when paramedics arrived and took him away on a stretcher. He was taken to Los Angeles County Medical Center at USC where he later passed away.

In light of these facts, attorneys for the stadium are now asking the judge to dismiss the case.
