Cornett is facing 80 years to life in prison when sentenced, according to a news release by the District Attorney’s office.

In April 2015, Cornett, who is HIV positive, gave a 15-year-old girl a ride, but prevented her from leaving his car. He drove her to a deserted area and sexually assaulted her twice.

Then on May 6, 2015, Cornett allegedly posed as a police officer and told a 15-year-old girl he was going to arrest her for jaywalking. He got the victim into his car and drove her to an abandoned mobile classroom, where he sexually assaulted her, according to prosecutors. The girl escaped and ran to get help from parishioners at a nearby church.

According to authorities, Cornett tried to drive away from the scene, but his car got stuck in the sand and police found him. When the seven Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, he fought with and spat at them, Los Angeles Times reports.
