High School Teacher Andrea Conners, 34, Admits to Sex with Teen Student

| by Michael Allen

High school teacher Andrea Conners avoided a trial by admitting, on Tuesday, to having sex with a former student from Highlands High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky.

On May 10, police accused Conners of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Even though Kentucky’s age of consent is 16, the felony she was indicted under makes it illegal for a teacher to have sex with a student under age 18.

In Campbell Circuit Court, the 34-year-old Conners changed her "not guilty" plea to "guilty" on one count of first-degree sexual abuse, which will require her to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

Judge Fred Stine could send her to prison for the maximum five years when she is sentenced on Aug. 8.

Ironically, Conners’ husband is the principal at the nearby St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Junior High School.

Conners, who has two children, resigned on May 3 after officials with Fort Thomas Independent Schools became aware of rumors of an inappropriate relationship with a student.

During her eight years at the school, Connors had taught accounting foundations, contemporary issues, computer literacy, and entrepreneurship and business management.
