A London woman has learned a hard lesson when it comes to posting a selfie with an AK-47 rifle: it can land you in prison.

Caitlin Adams, 25, posted a selfie holding an AK-47 rifle between her legs, while dressed scantily, and it led to her being sentenced to 10 years in prison for her role in a gun smuggling ring, New York Daily News reported.

Adams was one of six convicted for their role in the “illegal manufacture and supply of firearms and ammunition,” London police said, according to New York Daily News.

Ishmael Brown, Adams’s imprisoned boyfriend, used his cell phone in jail to seek out deactivated weapons, The Guardian reported. Adams would then collect and carry them. A fellow inmate, Ehsen Abdul-Razak, was also organizing sales with his cell phone.

Investigators caught the gang after two of its members, Aaron Murray and Uzair Patel, were found with a reactivated 9mm semi-automatic pistol by police while in a London cab in June 2015, according to The Guardian. Police also discovered a former Polish soldier, Bart Pawlowski, was responsible for reactivating the weapons at his workshop.

The AK-47 weapon Adams took the selfie with was among the more than 40 guns sourced by the gang in the six months prior to Murray and Patel’s arrests. Brown is said to have posed with the gun in a photo too, according to The Guardian.

The six members of the gang have been sentenced to a total of 45 years.

Adams received a 10-year sentence after being found guilty of conspiracy to transfer prohibited weapons.

“The sentencing of Caitlin Adams should serve as a warning to others of the grave consequences of storing and transporting guns for others,” investigating officer Claire Gentles said.
