The sight of a 21-year-old man walking around with a Hello Kitty backpack may not be considered odd in some situations, but police in Bradenton, Florida, found it suspicious.
After Jessica Oliva walked into her burglarized home on Oct. 6 as the alleged thief was leaving, she discovered she was missing wallets, a laptop, several watches and a pink Hello Kitty backpack, the Herald-Tribune reported. Shortly after police came to the crime scene, they noticed a man in a nearby neighborhood holding the distinct bag and wearing one of the stolen watches, which was also Hello Kitty themed.

A deputy saw the man, later identified as Dinzel Gabriel, run into a home and walk back out without the backpack, SNNTV reported. Gabriel was stopped and questioned and, following a short foot chase, arrested, WorldWide Weird News reported.
Gabriel has since been charged with theft and trespassing an unoccupied residence. Police in Manatee County are well acquainted with Gabriel. Since 2012, he’s faced charges including burglary, petit theft, grand theft auto and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
