One of the suspects pulled a gun on the young woman’s father and forced him to leave the area.

“Get the f**k out of here,” he allegedly said to the father, according to police sources who spoke with New York Daily News. The men then took turns raping the woman.

The father ran from the playground and called the police, who returned a short time later to find the suspects gone and the victim traumatized and trembling. The woman was subsequently treated at a nearby hospital and released.

The five men were later seen on a surveillance camera entering a bodega near the playground just before the attack. They remain on the loose.

“I have to keep an eye out," Carrol Brown, a 52-year-old man who recently moved to the area, told New York Daily News. "To me, I thought this was safe.”

Brown said he planned to instruct his 16-year-old daughter to avoid the public playground after dark.

“She’s definitely not hanging out in this park,” he added.

A woman who lives near the playground said she was outraged that police officers weren’t already patrolling the area when the crime occurred.

“Where are they?!” she said angrily. “How can they wonder how stuff like this happens, and then when it gets dark they're not here!"

An investigation and search are currently underway.
